ABSTRACT

Purpose:

To present a patient with retinal capillary hemangioma that was successfully tre-ated with photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Case:

33 year old female patient presented with a loss of visual acuity in her left eye for the last two weeks. Visual acuity of left eye was hand motion. Anterior segment exa.minat.ion is normal in both eyes. Fundus exa.mina.tion of left eye revealed a retinal capillary hemangioma which is about 1500 ^ diameter, located in temporally to macula, causing exudation and macu-lar edema. The patient was treated with single session of PDT. Visual acuity improved to 20/ 200 four weeks after PDT. Visual acuity was 20/20 after eight months. Patient remains stable 24 months following PDT.

Conclusion:

PDT seems effective way of treatment for retinal capillary hemangioma.

Keywords:
