ABSTRACT

Conclusion:

Argon laser photocoagulation is still effective in the current treatment of Coats’ disease. The accurate staging of this disease may be the first step for the decision of the appropriate therapy for these patients. In this study, the status of argon laser photocoagulation in the current therapy of Coats’ disease is being disscussed, supported by three case presentations.

Results:

The first case was classified as stage 2B, the right eye of the second case as stage 4, the left eye as stage 2B and the third case was classified as stage 2A. The lesions have regressed after argon laser photocoagulation in all three cases.

Material and Methods:

Three patients with Coats’ disease were evaluated retrospectively. The choice of therapy was done according to Shields’ classification. All 3 cases were treated with argon laser photocoagulation.

Purpose:

To report on the status of argon laser photocoagulation together with the importance of staging in the current treatment of Coats’ disease.
